I ran incident response for Xbox Live for twenty years.

For twenty years at Microsoft I ran the operational side of Xbox Live, a service with tens of millions of users. I wrote the incident-management frameworks other teams still execute, commanded the response bridges for incidents like Log4Shell and the Lizard Squad attack on Christmas Day 2014, and ran problem management until the fixes actually landed. Since 2015 I was also the incident manager aligned with Xbox's security Sev-1s, working alongside Microsoft's Security Response team.

The last few years I added AI to that toolkit. I build AI-assisted agents for live operations, each one submitted through Microsoft's Responsible AI review with an approved threat model. The work I like best sits where those two things meet: automation that operators trust, built by someone who has carried the pager.

Security is where I want to keep growing. I have held a CompTIA Security+ certification since 2005 and spent a decade inside Xbox's security-incident practice. I have never held a security clearance, and a role that sponsors one would suit me fine.

I was part of the Xbox layoffs in July 2026, after nearly twenty years with Xbox between vendor and FTE roles. It was a great run, and I'm looking for the right incident/service-operations home for the next one.
